Biography

Jahbitat is the main sonic form adopted by Guatemalan born, Venezuelan raised and Barcelona based musician Simon Williams. Under this guise, through which he recently released his first album “Harpy Lights The Canopy” on Project Mooncircle, Jahbitat delivers to the listener a humble array of melody laden beats constructed throughout the seasons with the use of a computer, a sampler, a guitar, an electric bass, a microphone and a simple vision of the workings of nature. In a live environment, meditative improvisation leads way to a peaceful battle between vocal harmonies, heavy drones, bells, beats, delays and synthesized sounds all finding their place amongst the layers that pile up like multi-coloured rocks in a mutant mountain of sound.

Other projects include collaborative efforts with fellow noise makers in bands like Narwhal, Rattle Snake Cat, collaborations with visual artists like Michael Swaney, No-Domain and Tohyto and a local radio show/concert organizer dubbed
Lovely Skyboat.
